Visiting holy shrines in Thessalia. Begin your tour of Thessaloniki, by exploring St. Demetrios Church, St. Sophia and the Church of the 12 Apostles. You will see the Arch of Galerius, St. George Rotunda and the White Tower. Visit to Serbian Cemetery (Srpsko groblje). Moni Vladaton, Levkos Pyrgos.
June 27 – 30, 2014
We will visit monastery Ormylia in Chalkidiki, the female monastery where at least a hundred nuns reside. Women will spend this time in the monastery, while men visit Monastery Hilandar on the holy mountain of Athos (the timeless spiritual center of all Orthodoxy), together with Protaton, Iviron, Vatopedi and Simonopetra (the amazing monastery perched precariously on St. Simon’s Rock hundreds of feet directly above the blue Aegean,), experiencing everyday monastic life, with a long and glorious vigil awash in the magnificent Byzantine tones of the antiphonal choirs. Special hours will be dedicated for discussion with spiritual Elders. The women will take a cruise along the shores of the Mt Athos peninsula.

Today we fly from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Belgrade, Serbia. We will spend one night in Belgrade.
After settling in to our hotel in Belgrade, we will visit the impressive St. Sava church, built in the style of Hagia Sophia, and also to Kalemegdan Park and the church of St. Paraskeva, drinking the waters from her holy well and admiring the view overlooking the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. The day will end with a walk to the Skadarlija area of restaurants and shops, and a marvelous dinner outdoors while being serenaded with traditional Serbian songs.
July 2-4, 2014
Audience with His Holiness Serbian Patriarch. We continue on our way, stopping first at Rakovica Monastery, the burial place of saintly Patriarch Pavle, and next at the Church of St. George in Oplenac, where we will be stunned by the beauty of its mosaics and frescos. Zica Monastery, memorable as a monastery founded by King Stefan the First-Crowned and built by St. Sava around 1207, where the kings of Serbia were crowned, and also where the ever-memorable St. Nikolai Velimirovich was consecrated bishop in 1919 and where 22 years later arrested by the Nazis in 1941. Then we head to Studenica Monastery, founded by Stefan Nemanja in 1190, where we will venerate the relics of St. Simeon, father of St. Sava, and also the relics of St. Stefan, the first Serbian king, and the relics of Holy Mother Anastasia, mother of St. Sava. Overnight stay in Studenica Monastery.

The next morning, following the Liturgy and breakfast, we pilgrims will find ourselves on a long bus ride to Montenegro heading for Ostrog Monastery, the home of the mighty miracle-working man of God, St. Basil of Ostrog. Before we get to Ostrog, we will stop to visit Moraca Monastery, which possesses icons and frescos from the 13th century. From Ostrog, we travel to Dajbabe Monastery, where we venerate the relics of St. Symeon of Dajbabe, who while a monk at Ostrog received visions from God, including one which led him to Dajbabe to construct a monastery in the cave found there, and afterwards lived in it ‘till his death in April of 1941. Overnight stay at Ostrog Monastery.
July 5-6, 2014
Following the wonderful visit of Monte Negro, we drive into Herzegovina to Trebinje, where we will spend the final two days of our pilgrimage. In Trebinje, our first visit is to Tvrdos monastery, the monastery of St. Peter and St. Paul, etc. Discussion with Bishop Atanasije and bishop Grigorije, after which we go to a restaurant in the mountains with a magnificent Herzegovinian meal. Overnight stay in Tvrdos and Petropavlovo Monastery.

Following the Liturgy we will travel back to Belgrade, Serbia.
July 8th, 2014
We fly back from Belgrade to Los Angeles, USA.
