Appeal for the Decani Monastery Relief Fund Inc. USA

"The poor are the treasures of the good things that we look for, the keepers of the gates of the kingdom: St. Gregory of Nyssa Beloved in Christ our Lord,

Previously I have humbly addressed you that the Decani Monastery Relief Fund has set up a "Scholarship Fund" and indicated that we are trying to raise funds to send twelve students to the University in Northern Kosovo. This number has now increased to seventeen, and we have six other potential students as well. The academic year for the students starts on October 1st.

The expense for each student to attend University is $900.00 per-year and the Decani Monastery Relief Fund is trying to make this not only a dream fulfilled but also a blessing for these students whose families could never afford to pay for their children's college education. The deplorable economic and financial situation now prevailing in Kosovo makes it virtually impossible for families to support such an important life goal for their children.

Would you kindly open up your good Christian heart and support our fund so that these students and their families could look forward to a more promising future.

What does $900.00 pay for? This pays for the tuition cost, dormitory living, books and food for one full year! It is almost unimaginable for those of us outside this troubled region to comprehend the fact that the meals served in these dormitories will be the first full, decent meals that these young people have enjoyed in years. Additionally, the rooms in the dormitory will be warm! Heated rooms in Kosovo have been very scarce in recent memory.

We really have to keep in mind that the current conditions prevailing Kosovo/Metohija have led to the internal displacement of more 200,000 human beings, including women and children. These people continue to live far away from their homes and depend on temporary shelters for housing.

The Decani Fund is trying with great Christian love to move some of these children from the hardship of these temporary shelters into better housing situations. Lets all do it together as one loving Christian family and please I ask you with tears in my eyes help these students and support our fund.
