On the eve of the Feast of St. George the Great Martyr, Saturday – May 5, 2007, Divine Liturgy was served at 10:00 a.m. on the grounds of the future Monastery of the Meeting of the Lord. The liturgy was served by His Grace Bishop Maxim of the Western American Diocese and concelebrated by Priests Bozidar Draskovic, Petar Jovanovic, Milan Vukovic, Nikola Ceko, Blasko Paraklis, Norman Kosanovic and Hieromonk Jovan.
After many years since the last Liturgy was served on these grounds, this Liturgy is a symbolic gesture marking the beginning of a new phase regarding this monastery property and the work that will take place on it. After the Liturgy a meal of love was prepared outdoors.
On this traditional eve of St. George’s Feast 40 faithful came from the parishes in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, San Diego, Orange County and San Marcos.
Directions to the Monastery: Take highway 78, which turns into Lincoln Parkway, east. Turn south on Broadway, then east on Washington Ave. Go across Bear Valley Parkway (highway S6) and Washington becomes Hidden Trails Rd. Turn east (left) at Meadow Creek, which turns into Guejito Grade Rd. at the pipe framed gate. At the fork go right, which is Stonebridge Rd. and that brings you onto the monastery grounds.
